Friends in Need

In response to recent natural disasters around the country, FOLUSA is now hosting a “Friends in Need” website. If you library is struck by a natural disaster or if significant damage has occurred to your facility, we will provide you space on our website so that other Friends groups and libraries around the country can pitch in by sending books, equipment, money or furnishings to help with your disaster recovery.

In order to post a request for help on the FOLUSA website, you will need to document that your library facility, collections, and/or furnishings have suffered significant damage or destruction from a natural disaster (flood, fire, hurricane, e.g.) or damage from vandalism or other destructive forces.

FOLUSA will act as an intermediary only. Upon receipt of your support materials (see below) and approval of your request, we will post your need on our website for three months (including one month on our website front page). During that time, your library or group will interact directly with any library or group willing to help with donations.

We hope that having a centralized location to post requests for assistance in times of disaster will enable you to get help from your Friends across the country!
